Tabab Heritage Village
Tabab is a Saudi village in the Asir region, 25 km north-west of the city of Abha. It was built in the era of the First Saudi State and was the first political, cultural and economic capital of Asir during the rule of the First Saudi State (1215-1234 AH) under the emirate of the Al Abu Nuqtah Al Mutahami family. It has several important historical and heritage sites, most notably Tabab Mosque, founded by Prince Abdulwahhab bin Amir Abu Nuqtah Al Mutahami in 1221 AH in the reign of Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz, and the palaces of the emirs of the Al Abu Nuqtah Al Mutahami family. It is currently the seat of their family and of the sheikhdom of the Rabi'ah, Rufaydah and Bani Thu'ah tribes.
