Shada Palace
Shada Palace, or the "White Palace", is one of the most important historical landmarks in the centre of Abha. It was built in 1348 AH / 1929 CE on the instructions of King Abdulaziz and has four floors built of stone, with walls plastered inside and out, and timber used for its doors, windows and ceilings. The palace served for a time as the seat of the emirate of the Asir region, then was restored in 1407 AH and opened in 1408 AH / 1988 CE as a museum of folk heritage. It lies close to the Tuesday folk market and the Asir Regional Museum.
