Alsamlagui Ancient Dam

Al Samlaqi Dam lies at the head of Wadi Liyyah on the outskirts of Taif Governorate and is one of its historic dams. It is about 25 km south-east of the city of Taif. It is an old archaeological dam that was probably built before the rise of Islam, as early Kufic inscriptions appear on some of its rocks, and most of its sides still stand. The dam is notable for its size: it is 210 metres long and 10 metres wide, with a lower base 14 metres wide, and rises 11 metres above ground level.
