Masjid Al Ijaba
Masjid Al Ijaba, also known as Masjid Bani Muawiyah, is located north-east of the Prophet's Mosque, about 385 metres north of Al Baqi on King Faisal Road. It is called Al Ijaba (the Answering) because the Prophet's (peace be upon him) supplication there was answered. It is narrated that he prayed there and made three supplications: he asked his Lord not to destroy his community through famine and drought, not to let an outside enemy overpower them and violate their sanctity, and not to make their strength be turned against one another. The first two were granted and the third was not. For this reason Muslims through the ages have sought blessings by visiting it and praying in it, and throughout history it has received the attention of rulers and governors who restored it and preserved its structure. It remains one of the landmarks visitors to Madinah seek out today.
