Masjid Al Ghamamah
Visitors to Madinah are keen to visit Al Ghamamah Mosque and pray in it, as it was the last place where the Messenger (peace be upon him) led the Eid prayer. It is called "Al Ghamamah" (the Cloud) because, it is said, a cloud shielded the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) from the sun as he prayed. He also prayed the funeral prayer in absentia for the Negus (Al Najashi) there. It is only about 500 metres from the Prophet's Mosque, to its south-west. It receives many visitors these days who come to see the ancient cultural heritage it holds, and the landmarks and memories connected with the Prophet's biography.
