Hisn Bani Waqif

Hisn Bani Waqif, or Utum Bani Waqif, lies about 500 metres south-east of Quba Mosque. It is one of the historical landmarks and monuments of Madinah and is only four kilometres from the Prophet's Mosque. Researcher Muhammad Ghali Al Tarjami stated that the Banu Waqif, after whom the fort is named, were from the Aws, one of the tribes of the Ansar who supported the Messenger (peace be upon him), noting that the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed in their fort, which lies south of Quba Mosque.
