Turks Castle
Jazan Heritage Castle, also called Al Dosariyah Castle, is an archaeological fortress standing on a hill overlooking the Red Sea in the centre of Jazan in southern Saudi Arabia. It dates back to the Ottoman era, when it served as the seat of the Turkish governor. It stands about 150 metres above sea level, is square in shape with a total area of about 900 square metres, and is reinforced by four massive towers. The Ministry of Tourism began restoring and restructuring the castle in January 2012 in three phases. The first phase was clearing the rubble, the second was installing electricity and developing the area around the castle, and the third and final phase was building the museum inside the castle.
