The Black Mountain in Al Reeth
The Black Mountain, also called Jabal Al Azziyin after the Al Azziyin tribe, lies in Al Reeth governorate, east of the Jazan region in south-western Saudi Arabia. The mountain is thought to be called the Black Mountain because of its dense vegetation, which gives it a black colour when seen from afar. It takes the form of an arc that begins in the north and curves toward the east at its highest peak. It is bordered to the north and north-west by Jabal Al Qahr and Wadi Lajab in Al Reeth governorate, and to the south by the Munjid mountains in Haroob governorate. The Sahalil mountains lie in the area south of the mountain. The mountain is about 1,800 metres long and is home to more than two thousand people, most of whom work in farming and herding livestock. Like other people of the area's mountains, they are known for their traditional dress of shirt and waist wrap, along with fragrant plant leaves worn on their heads.
