The historic area of Yanbu is about 2,500 years old and has witnessed historic events, the most important being the events of Britain's war against the Ottomans and the Battle of Al Ushayrah, which began in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Many important figures lived in the city of Yanbu, among them Lawrence of Arabia, Abdullah bin Al Hasan bin Al Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Talib and the Companion Abu Abdullah Harmala Al Mudliji (may God be pleased with him).
