Ship Mountain in Bajdah
Ship Mountain is a mountain with geological and historical remains, located west of the city of Tabuk in north-western Saudi Arabia. It is called Ship Mountain because its formation looks very much like a ship. The mountain bears many inscriptions and remains that document the lives of earlier peoples who passed through the area. It lies in the Sahma desert, which was a stop on the ancient trade route to and from the Arabian Peninsula. This explains the Thamudic inscriptions and writings on the mountain, which date back more than 2,600 years, as well as pre-Islamic Arabic writings and Kufic inscriptions from the first century of the Hijra.
