Georgios G Shipwreck

The wreck of the Georgios G lies off the coast of Haql governorate, in the Bir Al Mashi area. It was a Greek ship built in England in 1949 that ran aground on the coral reefs on 4 April 1978 while carrying a cargo of flour. The ship is known as the "Saudi Titanic" and has become one of the best-known landmarks on the Haql coast, set against a backdrop of high mountains.
