Tayma Ancient Wall
The Tayma Wall, or Old Tayma Wall, encircles the ancient city of Tayma on the western, southern and eastern sides, but not the north, which is occupied by the salt flat known as the sabkha. The wall is more than 10 to 15 kilometres long and built of stone, mud brick and clay. In places it still stands more than ten metres high, while in others it drops to about one metre. It is between one and two metres thick. It is the longest wall in the Arabian Peninsula and one of the oldest archaeological walls in the world. It was traditionally dated to the first millennium BC, but recent scientific research shows that it dates to the second millennium BC.
