Prince Abdulkarim Al Rumman Palace
Al Mudhariyah Palace, also known as Ibn Rumman Palace, stands beside the famous archaeological Haddaj Well. It was ordered and built by Prince Abdulkarim bin Ali Al Rumman, then governor of Tayma, during the first half of the last Hijri century, using stone and mud brick. The people of Tayma, men and women alike, worked together to build it, which shows their ability and endurance in building something so fine and beautiful, using natural materials available in the town. The palace has a distinctive architectural style and is a real and rare example of traditional building methods. It has double outer walls and towers, and contains two mosques, one for winter and one for summer, a large courtyard and many inner rooms. It remained the seat of the emirate until 1398 AH, and stood for more than 100 years, resisting changes in the weather with its beauty, a witness to an important historical period in the governorate of Tayma in the Tabuk region of northern Saudi Arabia.
