The tower is one of the most prominent landmarks of Al-Kharj, standing at the entrance to the governorate on the Riyadh expressway. Al-Kharj Tower is 105 metres high. The tower has five floors, as follows. Basement: houses the administration, technical, control and monitoring offices, the main kitchen and the electrical substation, together with the electrical and mechanical rooms for the cooling and air-conditioning units. It was badly damaged when floodwaters swept through Al-Kharj in 1424 AH (2003-2004), particularly the electronic systems, the monitoring and control systems, the alarm and fire-fighting systems, and the air-mixing units and return fans in the basement. First floor: contains shopping and lecture halls, a reception area, a family cafeteria and an art exhibition hall. Second floor: contains restaurants for families and for single men, as well as the viewing deck. Third floor: a full-floor revolving restaurant (with a moving floor), plus an upper kitchen annex equipped with high-capacity refrigerators. It seats about 320 people at a time and is furnished with tables and chairs. Fourth floor: the mechanical floor, containing the central air-conditioning equipment, the main chillers, the lift rooms, an electrical substation, cooling units and supply pumps that provide support services to the tower.
