King AbdulAziz Palace
King Abdulaziz Palace is one of the historic archaeological palaces in Al-Kharj Governorate, specifically in the city of Al Sayh, the former capital of Al-Kharj, and it still stands today. It was built in 1359 AH (1940) by order of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, to protect Riyadh and its southern borders from any rebellion against the state. It was built in Al-Kharj specifically because it was a strategic target for anyone wishing to control Al Yamamah and Najd in that era. Al-Kharj is distinguished by its natural resources, its fertile land and its abundant springs, and it has many important archaeological sites, some dating back to 500 BC, such as the ancient burial grounds and the Al Binnah archaeological sites in Al Yamamah, which caravans passed through on their journey from the Levant to Yemen and back, known as the winter and summer journey.
