King Abdulaziz Historic Palace in Dawadmi
King Abdulaziz Palace is an archaeological palace owned by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. It lies on the western side of Dawadmi Governorate along the Hijaz road and is notable for its beautiful building on a large site. The early stages of founding the palace began in 1349 AH, when King Abdulaziz ordered Sheikh Abdulrahman Abu Bakr Al Ghaihab to choose a suitable site for building a palace for the king in Dawadmi. King Abdulaziz Palace in Dawadmi Governorate consists of a number of buildings, the most prominent being the royal wing, which includes the royal residence with its facilities, the roshan (the king's private majlis), the workshops for repairing royal cars, and the mashab, which was used to prepare coffee, tea and other amenities. The palace received great attention from the Ministry of Education's Deputy Ministry for Antiquities and Museums (formerly), which carried out a project to restore this archaeological palace under the supervision of the Boys' Education Department in Dawadmi Governorate, represented by the department's Museums and Antiquities section. The project tender was awarded to the Bawabat Al Jazeera company, which specialises in restoring antiquities and museums, for SAR 4.6 million.
