Scitech
Sultan bin Abdulaziz Science and Technology Center (Scitech) is one of the projects of the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Charitable Foundation. The idea for the center arose in 2000, when Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz (may God have mercy on him) ordered a science center modelled on the world's most modern science centers, to serve students, researchers in science and technology, and all groups of society. Because Prince Sultan wanted the center to be given to a body concerned with science and technology, he ordered it donated to King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 2006, making it one of the active centers serving and raising awareness in the community. In 2022 the center moved to the Eastern Province Development Authority to carry on the scientific, social and cultural renaissance project. The center is on the Khobar Corniche, on a site of 21,700 square metres, with a building area of 14,100 square metres, designed and built on the model of the world's most modern centers. It includes four main exhibition halls covering a range of scientific and cultural fields, an IMAX science dome, an astronomical observatory, a conference hall (theatre), multi-purpose exhibition halls, and administrative facilities and services. The center's main aim is to educate members of the community, especially young people, through an engaging, interactive approach based on learning through entertainment and learning through experience and observation.
