Mecca Museum
Makkah Museum (Al Zahir Palace Museum) is one of the museums of Makkah Region. Work began on building the palace in 1365 AH (1946 AD) by order of King Abdulaziz and took seven years, finishing in 1372 AH (1952 AD). It was used for a time as a guest palace and in 1378 AH was given to the Ministry of Education of the time, which turned it into the home of Al Zahir Intermediate School and converted its rooms and halls into classrooms. It was used this way until 1398 AH, when the building was handed to the Antiquities and Museums Agency, which carried out a comprehensive restoration and returned it to its original architectural condition.
