Ibrahim Palace
Ibrahim Palace is a historic palace and one of the landmarks of Al-Ahsa in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It stands north of the Al Koot district and was the main headquarters of the Ottoman garrison in Hofuf, Al-Ahsa, which was then part of Basra. King Abdulaziz Al Saud took it on the night of 5 Jumada al-Awwal 1331 AH (13 April 1913) when he annexed Al-Ahsa. Construction of the palace began together with the Qubba Mosque in 963 AH (1555 AD). Over the following century it expanded to include a fortress, a prison and Ottoman baths. In March 2019 the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage announced the completion of restoration work on all parts and facilities of the palace. The work included rebuilding collapsed sections, the plasterwork of the palace facilities, and painting the buildings to suit the historic site, as well as levelling the square in front of the palace and preparing it to host tourism events and festivals.
