Hatim Al Tai Houses
Tawaran Palace lies 65 km northwest of Hail, in the historic and ecologically rich Wadi Tawaran in the Aja mountains. Visitors can see the remains of Tawaran Palace, the only surviving trace of the ancient village of Tawaran. The palace is one of the most important cultural sites because its name is linked to the story of Hatim Al Tai and to the Tayyi tribe that lived there. Visitors can also see the tomb of Hatim Al Tai and the tomb of his daughter, who is believed to have lived into the Islamic era, beside the palace, and the spot of the fire that Hatim Al Tai used to light at night to guide guests to his home so he could host and honour them.
