Fayd Historic City
Fayd is a historic city in the southeast of the Hail region and one of its important archaeological sites. Its mountains hold historic inscriptions dating to prehistoric times, and it was a major station on the Zubaydah Trail, halfway between Makkah and Baghdad. It was registered among the provinces of the Abbasid Caliphate and is rich in Islamic remains, with historical importance and standing. Fayd is 92 km from Hail on the highway linking Hail with Al-Qassim, and 160 km from Al-Qassim. Its main remains include Kharash Palace, the Zubaydah pools, the residential town, the underground passages, the hills area, the palace cistern, a giant grain-grinding millstone, about 45 wells and water channels. The city dates to the early Islamic period. It was recently announced that Fayd Historic City will be developed for tourism.
