Zaabal Castle

Zaabal Castle is an archaeological fortress in Sakaka in the Al-Jouf region, on a mountaintop in the northwest of the city. It is a wall of stone and mud with four towers at its corners, reached by a single winding road. The castle protected the city for a long time because of the strength of its fortifications and the difficulty of reaching it, and locals tell legendary stories of how it stood firm against invaders who wanted to destroy it because of its strategic importance.
