Omar ibn Al
Omar ibn Al-Khattab Mosque (may God be pleased with him) is one of the most important archaeological mosques of the Islamic era. Its importance stems from its layout, which continues the planning pattern of the first mosques in Islam, in the manner of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah in its early stages. The mosque is famous for its minaret, considered the first minaret built in Islam, with a stone height of about 12 meters, from which the call to prayer was given. Historical Background The historical importance of Omar ibn Al-Khattab Mosque comes from a number of accounts that attribute its construction to the second caliph, Omar ibn Al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him), who ordered it built on his return from Jerusalem in 17 AH.
