Red Sand Dunes

An area of distinctively red sand dunes about 65 km from Riyadh; the drive takes roughly an hour to an hour and a half. It is known for 4x4 dune bashing and sandboarding, and is one of the most popular destinations for organized desert trips from the capital. Ideal for young people, adventure lovers and photographers. It is best visited in the milder months and just before sunset. It is advisable to go with a guide or a driver experienced in sand driving, and to bring water, sunscreen and a light jacket for the evening. Trips may be canceled due to weather.
