Bab Samhan: Historic Well
The Al Suraiha district was distinguished by its fertility and a network of irrigation systems and wells that supported its agricultural nature, and it also supplied water to neighboring districts such as Samhan, whose residents fetched water daily. They filled jars and containers and carried them home on foot, on their shoulders or heads, or by donkey. This communal activity highlights the importance of the link between the wells of Al Suraiha and the daily life of Samhan's residents. The skill of local craftsmen shows in the traditional stonework of the wells and the linear stone design of the water channels. Using traditional methods, conservation efforts continue to preserve these symbols of survival and community resilience in the face of a harsh climate.
