Al Yanfa Archaeological Village
Al Yanfa Village is one of the villages of the Tamniah center in the Asir region, in the south of Saudi Arabia, about 45 km from Abha. It contains a number of archaeological buildings, mosques and historic forts, showcases the architectural heritage of Asir, and is known for its mild climate and green nature. At an elevation of 2,600 meters above sea level and 40 kilometers southwest of Abha, Al Yanfa Archaeological Village, which dates back more than 1,400 years, is one of the oldest historic villages in the Asir region and one of the most unique in terms of architectural character and cultural identity. The village has around 400 historic houses, 6 mosques and 36 old passageways linking the neighborhoods, along with striking stone terraces and farming areas fed by more than 70 wells, 7 of them carved into the rock. Thanks to restoration work over the past two years, the village has become a vibrant center for contemporary arts, with its passageways and squares restored in natural stone, lighting inspired by heritage style installed, and a natural wooden system for draining rainwater. At Al Yanfa Village, the charm of the place blends with the mild climate created by rain and seasonal winds, making the village a cultural and tourist destination that celebrates the beauty of the past and embraces the creativity of the present.
