Historical Quba Castle
Historical Quba Castle sits on a small hill in the Al Duwaimah district of Madinah, near Quba Mosque. It dates back more than 100 years, and was built as a guard post overlooking the route of pilgrims coming to Madinah and protecting the area from attacks by tribes and bandits. The castle reflects the journey of transformation from defense to peace through the history of Madinah, and is today one of the most prominent heritage landmarks that the Tourism and National Heritage Authority is keen to restore and preserve within Madinah's historic routes, visited by those interested in antiquities and the history of Madinah. The Quba area in general is one of the most prominent historic sites in Madinah, and is linked to many important Islamic events since the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), forming an important part of the city's historical and cultural identity. The area is also close to a number of well-known Islamic sites, making it an important stop on visiting routes and cultural tourism.
