Bir Ghars
Bir Ghars is a historic landmark linked to the Prophet's biography (peace be upon him). It is in Al Awali District on Qurban Road, south of the Prophet's Mosque, and 1,500 metres north-east of Quba Mosque. It was dug by Malik ibn al-Nahhat, grandfather of Sa'd ibn Khaythama, in whose house the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stayed when he migrated to Madinah. Many Prophetic reports are attached to the well, including that the Prophet (peace be upon him) drank from it and prayed for it to be blessed, and described it as "a spring from Paradise". Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz launched its restoration and development; it was surrounded by a roofed iron screen and a plaza paved in natural stone, and water is pumped from it again to provide drinking water for visitors. It can be reached from Ali ibn Abi Talib Road, next to the Al Shawi private schools.
