Bir Al
Bir Al-Ihn, also known as "Al-Yasira", lies in the homes of Bani Umayyah ibn Zayd al-Awsi of the Ansar, and in pre-Islamic times was called "Al-Abira" or "Al-Asira". It is reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) visited Bani Umayyah, performed ablution from their well, blessed it and spat into it, and changed its name to "Al-Yasira". It is also mentioned that the Companion Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Asad al-Makhzumi was washed with its blessed water when he died. Historians of the eighth and ninth centuries AH described it as a plentiful well in the middle of a lush garden. With time it fell out of use and was abandoned, and the Heritage Commission surrounded it with a wall to protect it, under the project to preserve historic landmarks, ahead of its restoration.
