Bir Al
Bir Al-Fuqayr carries the story of how Salman the Persian, may Allah be pleased with him, was freed from slavery. In his youth Salman left his homeland, Persia, in search of the true religion, and ended up a slave working in the orchards of a man of Bani Qurayzah in Madinah. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) migrated to Madinah, Salman recognised the signs of prophethood and accepted Islam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told him to make a contract with his master to buy his freedom, and his master asked for forty ounces of gold and the planting of 300 palm trees in the Al-Fuqayr area until they bore fruit. The Companions rushed to help with saplings, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) told Salman to dig for them, then planted them with his own blessed hands, and they bore fruit that same year. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also gave him gold, which was weighed out to his master as forty ounces, and Salman became free. Bir Al-Fuqayr still stands as a witness to this timeless story in the history of Islam.
