Masjid Al
Masjid Al-Miqat (Dhul Hulaifah) is the miqat, the point for entering the state of ihram, for the people of Madinah and those passing through it to perform Hajj and Umrah, and the farthest miqat from Makkah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to stop at a tree here to enter ihram, and said: "Tonight someone came to me from my Lord while I was at Al-Aqiq, saying: pray in this blessed valley." Omar ibn Abdulaziz built it of stone, then King Faisal bin Abdulaziz ordered its renewal and expansion, and the major expansion came in the reign of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, making it a splendid architectural landmark. The mosque lies south-west of Madinah on the western side of Wadi Al-Aqiq, 14 km from the Prophet's Mosque. It is square, with a unique geometric design, and has a spiral minaret 62 metres high.
