Masjid Ali Bin Abi Talib
Masjid Ali bin Abi Talib stands on the site of one of the Prophet's Eid prayer grounds in the Manakha area, which the Prophet (peace be upon him) used for the Eid prayer and the rain prayer. It is named for Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, who led the people in the Eid al-Adha prayer there during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, in 35 AH. It was probably first built in the Umayyad period, when Omar ibn Abdulaziz governed Madinah (87-93 AH), then fell into ruin and disappeared, and was renewed by the Governor of Madinah, Zain al-Din al-Mansouri, in 881 AH. The present building dates to the reign of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, when it was rebuilt and expanded in 1411 AH. It was then restored and preserved in 1434 AH in the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and further maintenance work was carried out in the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz as part of the project to care for mosques and historic sites in Madinah.
