Masjid Al
Masjid Al-Sajdah is a historic landmark that witnessed a divine glad tiding and a prostration by the Prophet. The Companion Abdulrahman ibn Awf, may Allah be pleased with him, relates: the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went out until he entered a palm grove and prostrated, and prolonged the prostration until I feared that Allah had taken his soul. I came to look, and he raised his head and asked me why I was worried. He said: "Gabriel, peace be upon him, said to me: Shall I not give you glad tidings? Allah the Almighty says to you: whoever sends blessings upon you, I will send blessings upon him, and whoever greets you with peace, I will greet him with peace." A mosque was then built where the Prophet (peace be upon him) prostrated. The mosque has great historical importance as one of the Prophetic sites whose location has been preserved to this day, and it also witnessed the descent of Gabriel, peace be upon him, to the Prophet (peace be upon him). Its building was renovated in the Saudi era in 1399 AH, its total area is 1,823 square metres, and it has a minaret at its north-western corner.
